Dear Class of 2014,
As you welcome our breezy San
Antonio Autumn days and settle into this semester, hopefully you’ll take
advantage of sitting in those inviting white chairs or big rocks located
between Northrup Hall and the Coates Library. Make an effort to interact with
nature and enjoy congregating with friends or just read a book. It’s a known
fact that when we’re outside we feel better because we feel connected.
Although all the construction
around campus is a nuisance, all of these improvements will continue to add
value to your education even after you graduate. When I was an undergraduate
student at the University of California at Riverside (UCR), part of my campus
looked like Trinity does today because they were building a new School of
Medicine. The administrators at UCR told
us that as our campus prospered, our education’s value would continue to rise
and so it did. Just keep in mind that
although there have been many changes (including offices/academic departments
being moved around) it is all done for you, the students. To better your educational experience.
We can all agree that our
campus is looking prettier every day, especially as we get ready for Fall Family Weekend
(October 4-6). Hopefully you will take
advantage, with your friends and family, of many of the activities offered at
our campus and in our city in general. Even if your family cannot visit you
this time, tag along with someone else and enjoy yourself!
